Buy this K552 when removing the number pad improves your actual desk arrangement and you want linear red switches with USB. Its layout, rather than a promise of silence or gaming gains, should make the decision.
Best for
A desktop user who wants dedicated arrows and navigation keys, can spare the numeric keypad and already prefers a linear mechanical switch.
The trade-off
No separate number pad, wireless mode, touchpad or listed wrist rest. Mac support is limited; red switches do not guarantee a quiet room or universal switch compatibility.

A full-size keyboard can leave the mouse pushed toward the edge of a small desk. The Redragon K552 makes a specific trade: remove the separate number pad while keeping the function row, navigation block and arrow keys. That is useful only if those missing number keys are the part you can spare.
The version here is the black, wired 87-key K552 with linear red switches and rainbow lighting, Amazon US model listing K552-KR. It is a conventional desktop keyboard with a cable, rather than a wireless board for moving among devices.
Make the missing number pad earn its space
Look at what your right hand actually does during a normal session. If it alternates between typing and moving a mouse, a keyboard that ends after the navigation area can make a more compact arrangement possible. The K552's listed footprint is about 13.94 by 4.86 inches.
The important word is possible. You still have to position the board and mouse sensibly. Removing keys does not itself guarantee a comfortable posture, extra accuracy or better results in a game.
The dedicated arrows and navigation cluster remain visible and separate from the main typing area. That distinction matters when editing text or moving around documents: choosing this layout does not require giving up those physical keys along with the number pad.
If most of your day involves entering long columns of figures, however, the absent pad may be a recurring inconvenience. Adding a separate one would use some of the desk area this purchase was meant to free.

Choose red switches for their action
Redragon identifies the selected switches as linear reds. A linear action does not have the deliberate tactile bump of a tactile switch. That makes the switch type a meaningful choice for someone who already knows which action they prefer.
It does not establish how loud the whole keyboard will be in your room. Key presses, the way you bottom out and the surface underneath all matter. A red switch should not be treated as a promise that colleagues or a nearby microphone will hear nothing.
The documented construction combines metal and ABS. That describes the materials, rather than proving a particular lifespan or a superior typing experience. If you are choosing your first mechanical keyboard, trying a comparable linear action is more useful than buying from the word “gaming” alone.
Treat the rainbow lighting as a preference
The product photographs show colored rows and illuminated legends on black keycaps. Redragon documents adjustable lighting, and its guide describes brightness controls on the keyboard. This is useful if you want visible legends and a colorful desk without making software configuration the main attraction.
Rainbow lighting is not a reason to assume unrestricted color selection for every key. Nor does a colorful product image demonstrate synchronization with the rest of a computer setup. Buy the displayed lighting style because you like it, rather than expecting features that belong to another keyboard.
There is no wrist rest listed with the selected keyboard. If you use one, account for its depth as well as the keyboard's footprint. Compact width and the amount of desk occupied front to back are separate questions.
Plan for a wired desk
The K552 uses USB, so check the available computer connection and the cable route before ordering. It has no documented Bluetooth or receiver-based wireless mode in this selected configuration. It also supplies no built-in touchpad to replace your mouse.
Redragon lists Windows compatibility and limited Mac support. A Mac user who depends on particular shortcuts should check those requirements rather than assume every labeled function behaves identically.
Choose this K552 when you want a compact wired mechanical board, prefer linear switches and can comfortably live without a number pad. Skip it when wireless device switching, quiet-room certainty or frequent dedicated numeric entry matters more. Its strongest argument is a layout that leaves out exactly the keys you do not need.
