Kreg KHCCC 90° Corner Clamp: Hold Box Corners While You Drive the Fastener
THE BUYING TAKE
Choose the Kreg KHCCC when one person repeatedly assembles boxes, drawers, cabinet cases or T-joints from matching material no more than 1 inch thick and wants to fasten the joint before releasing alignment. Choose a square, bar clamps or another fixture for unequal thicknesses, wider glue-ups or parts that need correction rather than temporary positioning.
Best for
Solo box, drawer, cabinet-case and shelf assembly using equal-thickness stock up to Kreg's documented 1-inch limit, especially when the joint must stay clamped while a pocket-hole screw or another fastener is driven.
The trade-off
Both workpieces should be the same thickness and no more than 1 inch thick. Automaxx still requires the handles to open fully between moves and the pressure screw to be set appropriately. The clamp has no drill guide, and one tool holds only one corner or T-joint at a time.

Article summary
The Kreg KHCCC 90° Corner Clamp uses an outer V, inner wedge and Automaxx mechanism to hold two equal-thickness workpieces up to 1 inch thick. Its screw-access cutout can keep a box corner or T-joint clamped during fastening, but it is not a drill guide or a solution for uneven stock.

Holding two panels at a right angle sounds simple until one edge lifts while the other slides under the driver. A hand can steady one face or hold the fastener, but not reliably do both. The Kreg KHCCC 90° Corner Clamp addresses that awkward moment with a cast-aluminum outer V, a moving inner wedge and Automaxx clamping action. Together they hold equal-thickness workpieces at 90° while leaving a cutout at the joint for a screw or other fastener. It is a focused assembly clamp, not a general bar clamp or a substitute for accurate cuts.
The V-and-wedge pads hold both faces at once
The strongest buying reason is the way the clamp registers two surfaces in one motion. Kreg’s outer V contacts the outside faces of the joint while the inner wedge presses the inside faces. Closing the handles draws the parts together at 90°, so a box corner, drawer corner or cabinet case can be held without dedicating one hand to each panel.
That geometry also works for T-joints, where one board meets the face of another. Kreg specifies materials up to 1 inch thick and provides edge stops to help align the panel edges. The capacity belongs to each workpiece, not to the total width of an assembled box. Both pieces should be the same thickness; Kreg’s product guidance says unequal-thickness parts are not the intended fit.
The clamp can preserve alignment, but it cannot make a warped edge straight or repair an out-of-square cut. Dry-fit the joint first and verify that the mating edges close properly. The self-squaring arrangement is most useful when the parts already have sound reference surfaces.
Automaxx resets for equal-thickness stock changes
Automaxx is the second practical benefit. Instead of dialing the clamp to every small material change, the mechanism adjusts automatically when the handles close. That helps when a project moves among panels of different thicknesses within the documented 1-inch limit, provided the two pieces in any one joint match each other.
There is still a pressure control. Kreg directs the user to turn the adjustment screw for more or less clamping force, and to open the handles fully each time the clamp is moved so the Automaxx mechanism can reset. Those details matter: automatic thickness adjustment is not automatic pressure judgment. Delicate veneers or soft wood still call for restraint, while a joint that refuses to close may need better preparation rather than more force.
The handles use padded grips, and the working pads are aluminum. Even so, a clean pad and a test on scrap are sensible before clamping a finished surface. The KHCCC is meant to position parts for fastening, not to supply the long-reach pressure of a cabinet clamp across a large assembly.
The screw-access cutout keeps the corner clamped
Once the parts are aligned, the open cutout lets a driver reach a Kreg pocket-hole screw without removing the clamp. That avoids the familiar sequence in which a carefully aligned corner shifts as soon as the holding tool comes off. Kreg also says the joint may be secured with another fastener, such as a wood screw or nail, so the clamp is useful beyond pocket-hole projects.
The KHCCC does not include a drill guide. Pocket holes must already be prepared with a separate jig, and the driver still needs a clear approach through the cutout. On visible joinery, plan screw or nail placement before clamping so the tool is not mistaken for a drilling fixture.

Choose it for boxes and T-joints, not uneven stock
The KHCCC makes the most sense for assembling boxes, drawers, cabinet cases, shelves and small T-joints from matching material no more than 1 inch thick. It gives a solo builder a temporary second pair of hands, keeps both faces registered and allows the fastener to be driven before the setup is released.
Skip it when the two parts differ in thickness, when stock exceeds the stated limit, or when a wide assembly needs distributed pressure along an edge. A conventional square, bar clamps or specialized fixture will be a better fit for those jobs. Choose the KHCCC for repeated right-angle assembly where holding, aligning and fastening the same corner is the bottleneck—not because it replaces every clamp on the bench.
