BISSELL Little Green 1400B: Spray, Scrub, Then Pull the Spill Back Out
THE BUYING TAKE
Choose it if recurring sofa, stair, rug, pet, or car-seat spots are too frequent for hand blotting but too small to justify pulling out a full-size carpet cleaner.
Best for
Homes with pets, kids, upholstered furniture, carpeted stairs, area rugs, or fabric car interiors that regularly need localized spray-scrub-suction cleaning.
The trade-off
It does not dry-vacuum loose debris, is slow for whole-room carpet, requires cleaning the tanks and hose after use, and wet-cleaning compatibility still depends on the fabric or carpet.

The BISSELL Little Green 1400B is not a miniature whole-room carpet cleaner. It is a spot extractor built for the messes that are too wet, too deep, or too stubborn for paper towels: a drink on the sofa, muddy paw prints on carpeted stairs, food on a rug, or grime in a fabric car seat.
That narrow job is what makes it useful. You carry the 9.65-pound machine to the stain, spray cleaning solution through the hand tool, scrub the surface, then use suction to pull the loosened liquid back into the dirty-water tank. Instead of rubbing a spill deeper into fabric, you are actually extracting part of the mess back out.
The 48-ounce tank is the reason it feels more capable than a tiny spot cleaner
BISSELL gives the 1400B a 48-ounce clean-water tank, which is large enough to handle more than one small spot before stopping to refill. The machine also separates clean and dirty water, so the liquid you extract does not go back onto the surface.
That matters on a couch, a set of stairs, or a car interior where several small problem areas often need attention in the same session. It is still portable enough to move room to room, but the tank is large enough that the job does not feel like using a handheld stain pen.
The tradeoff is size. The 1400B takes more storage space than newer Little Green Mini models, and once the tanks, hose, cord, and tools are wrapped around the body, it is not something you will hide in a kitchen drawer.
A long cord and hose make stairs and car seats easier
The 1400B uses a 15-foot power cord and roughly a 4-foot hose. That combination gives you useful reach without carrying the entire machine onto every stair or seat cushion.
The included 3-inch Tough Stain Tool is the main working head. BISSELL also includes a spraying crevice tool and a HydroRinse self-cleaning hose tool on the current 1400B package. The crevice tool is useful where a wide nozzle cannot sit flat, while the HydroRinse attachment helps flush residue through the hose after cleaning.
That last step matters more than it sounds. A portable extractor handles dirty water, pet messes, food residue, and cleaning formula. If you put it away without rinsing the hose and tanks, the convenience advantage disappears quickly.
It cleans soft surfaces, but it does not replace a vacuum
BISSELL positions the Little Green for carpets, rugs, upholstery, stairs, pet beds, and vehicle interiors. That makes it useful in homes where the same kinds of small messes keep returning.
It does not pick up dry crumbs and grit like a normal vacuum. Loose debris should be vacuumed first, especially on carpets and car seats, so the extractor can focus on liquid and embedded soil instead of swallowing hair and crumbs.
It is also not a steam cleaner. BISSELL instructs owners to use hot tap water, not boiling water. The cleaning action comes from spray, agitation, cleaning formula, and suction rather than steam.

The real maintenance cost is the cleanup after the cleanup
The Little Green works best when you treat the machine itself as part of the job. Empty the dirty tank, rinse it, flush the hose, and let the parts dry before storage.
Upholstery also needs common sense. Check the furniture care label and test an inconspicuous area before wet cleaning. Some fabrics, dyes, natural fibers, or backing materials should not be saturated just because a portable extractor can physically spray them.
Another limitation is coverage. The 3-inch tool is excellent for spots and edges but slow for an entire room of wall-to-wall carpet. If your main problem is a large carpeted floor, a full-size upright extractor makes more sense.
Buy it for recurring spots, stairs, sofas, and car interiors
Choose the Little Green 1400B if your house regularly produces localized messes: pets, kids, drinks, upholstered furniture, carpeted stairs, or fabric car seats. Its appeal is not that it does everything. It is that it is much easier to pull out for a ten-minute stain job than a full-size carpet cleaner.
Skip it if you mostly clean hard floors, need dry vacuuming and wet cleaning in one pass, or want to deep-clean entire carpeted rooms. It earns its place when you use the spray-scrub-suction routine often enough to avoid renting or dragging out a larger machine.
