For a commute, office kitchen, gym bag, or hotel room, that is the real attraction. It is not trying to replace a full-size countertop blender. It is trying to make one cold drink away from the counter easier.

The 18-ounce vessel is sized for one real drink

Ninja rates the Blast vessel for up to 18 ounces, which is enough space for a personal smoothie or protein shake without turning the blender into a large bottle to carry all day. The black BC151BK is a single-serve design, so its strongest use case is one person making one drink rather than batch-prepping for a family.

The vessel is BPA-free, and both the vessel and sip lid are dishwasher safe. Best Buy also lists the exact model at about 10.7 inches tall, 3.5 inches wide and deep, and 1.73 pounds. That is compact enough for a desk or small kitchen shelf, though the motor base still adds more weight than a normal reusable bottle.

BlastBlade is built around frozen ingredients, not dry grinding

Ninja says the stainless-steel BlastBlade assembly can process fresh or frozen ingredients and ice. The ribbed vessel is designed to create a vortex that moves ingredients back toward the blades during the automatic blend cycle.

That does not mean every frozen recipe can be packed in any order. Ninja’s quick-start guidance calls for liquid in the vessel and recommends loading ingredients in the intended sequence, with frozen ingredients added later. If the blade stalls, the fix is to stop and adjust the contents rather than keep forcing the motor.

This is a drink blender, not a dry grinder. Nuts, coffee beans, spices, or other low-liquid jobs are not the reason to choose it.

USB-C charging makes the base genuinely portable

The BC151BK uses a rechargeable 7.4-volt lithium-ion motor base and charges over USB-C. That matters because a portable blender tied to a proprietary charging cradle is harder to keep useful while traveling.

Best Buy lists 14.4 watts for the exact model and says the correct charging input is 5V/3A, with roughly two hours for a full charge. Actual run time will depend on what you blend and how hard the motor has to work, so battery life is better treated as a convenience limit than a guaranteed number of smoothies.

The separate power and blend buttons are also a practical detail. Powering the unit first and then starting the blend cycle reduces the chance of an accidental blend while carrying or handling the cup.

The sip lid turns the blending jar into the cup

Once the blend is finished, the easy-open sip lid lets you drink directly from the same vessel. A hinged carry handle gives you a way to move it between a kitchen, car, desk, or gym without adding another cup to wash.

Cleanup is also designed around quick reuse. The lid and vessel can go in the dishwasher, and Ninja describes a 30-second self-clean cycle using water and a drop of dish soap. The motor base itself should not be submerged.

For someone who actually uses a portable blender several times a week, that simpler drink-and-clean workflow can matter more than a long feature list.

Know the limits before you pack it

Ninja’s safety guidance says not to blend hot, carbonated, or effervescent liquids. Pressure can build inside a sealed blending vessel, so this is a cold-drink tool rather than a way to puree hot soup or mix fizzy drinks.

The 18-ounce size also sets a clear ceiling. It is convenient for one serving, but it is not meant for family batches, big meal-prep jobs, or recipes that need the torque and capacity of a countertop blender.

Choose the Ninja Blast BC151BK if you regularly make cold smoothies or shakes away from a full kitchen and value a rechargeable, drink-from-the-vessel design. Skip it if you mostly blend at home, need large batches, or want a machine for hot liquids, dry grinding, or other heavy-duty jobs.
