SleekEZ Dog Brush 5 Inch: Medium Deshedding Tool for Loose Hair

The SleekEZ ORIGINAL Medium 5 Inch is a deshedding tool for buyers who want to remove loose coat without using a long-pin brush or a clipper. This article covers Amazon US child ASIN B00VC8DQX2, the Medium 5-inch version, not the Small, Large, Professional, or combo products.

Current Amazon evidence for the exact child shows about $19.97, 4.6 stars, more than 36,000 reviews, and 20K+ bought in the past month. Those numbers make it easy to see why the tool is popular, but the real buying question is simpler: do you need a tool specifically for shedding hair rather than knots and mats?

The tiny-tooth wave pattern is for shedding, not detangling

SleekEZ builds the ORIGINAL around a short blade filled with very small teeth arranged in a patented tooth-and-wave pattern. The company says the teeth catch hair at the tips and lift expired or shedding hair from the coat rather than acting like long comb tines.

That design explains both the advantage and the limitation. If your main problem is loose seasonal coat, the short-tooth blade is purpose-built for that job. If your pet has tangles, mats, or compacted knots, SleekEZ explicitly says this product is not a detangler or mat remover. It also does not clip or shave hair.

That distinction matters because “deshedding brush” can sound more universal than the tool actually is. Buy it for loose hair. Keep a separate comb, slicker, dematting tool, or clipper for jobs that require those functions.

The 5-inch Medium size is the general-purpose version

The exact B00VC8DQX2 product is the Medium 5-inch ORIGINAL. SleekEZ sells smaller and larger ORIGINAL versions, so width is part of the decision rather than a cosmetic variant.

SleekEZ describes the Medium as suitable for shedding animals roughly 20 to 500 pounds. That is unusually broad manufacturer guidance, but the practical value of the 5-inch width is control: it covers more coat per pass than a very narrow tool without becoming as wide as the Large model.

The same size also makes it easier to use around shoulders, sides, and other broad coat areas while still fitting in one hand. For a household with dogs of different sizes, or a mix of dogs and larger animals, the Medium is the most obvious middle option.

Loose hair falls away instead of packing into the tool

Another useful difference is cleanup during grooming. SleekEZ says loose hair collects along the blade in rows and then falls away, so you do not have to stop repeatedly to pull a dense wad of hair out from between long pins.

That can make a shedding session feel less fiddly, especially during heavy seasonal coat release. It also means you can see what the tool is removing without the head of the brush becoming buried under fur.

The blade is still a toothed metal edge, so technique matters. The manufacturer’s comfort claims are based on how the short teeth contact hair at the tips; they are not a reason to press hard. The tool works by repeated controlled passes, not by digging into the coat.

The same edge can remove pet hair from fabric surfaces

SleekEZ also markets the ORIGINAL for loose pet hair on furniture, pet bedding, saddle pads, vehicle interiors, and carpeting. That gives the tool a second use after grooming: scraping up hair that has already transferred to household or vehicle fabrics.

That extra job is useful if shedding is as much a cleaning problem as a coat-care problem. It does not turn the tool into a universal upholstery cleaner, and delicate materials still deserve care, but the manufacturer specifically positions hair removal from these surfaces as part of the product’s intended use.

Choose B00VC8DQX2 if your main problem is loose shedding hair and you want a 5-inch tool that can also help with pet hair on common fabric surfaces. Skip it if your priority is detangling, mat removal, clipping, or shaving.

The SleekEZ makes the most sense when you treat it as a specialist: a compact shedding blade with a short-tooth wave pattern, Medium-width coverage, simple hair release, and a useful second job around pet-covered furniture and car interiors.
