BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2 / ScreenBar Halo 2
Dark gray US standard monitor light bar with wireless controller
A monitor light does two different jobs when it has a lamp at the front and a light behind the display. One can illuminate a notebook or the keyboard. The other changes how bright the wall looks around the screen. The dark gray BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2 lets you adjust those jobs separately. The difference matters most when you move between reading a sheet of paper and working on a screen in a dim room. Start by deciding what each light should illuminate before choosing a favorite setting.
Check what will sit on top of the monitor
Look at the monitor from the side and check the shape and thickness of its top edge where the clamp would sit. Compare that point with BenQ's compatibility information for Halo 2. Include any curve, raised section or rear lip. Leave room behind the display for the mount and power cable, especially if the screen is already near a wall or on an arm. Check that the lamp can stay stable when you move or tilt the screen.
If a webcam occupies the center of the display, decide whether it can move or use the compatible mounting accessory. Check whether the camera still points toward your face and whether the extra hardware blocks a sensor or covers part of the screen. A bar that fits the monitor itself can still complicate the camera setup. Include cable routing in the trial so you can move the screen without pulling either cable taut.
Aim the front light at the task
Turn on the front light first and leave the backlight low or off. Put a sheet of paper and your keyboard where you usually use them. From your seated position, adjust the bar until those areas are easy to see. Then open a dark screen and look for reflections from that same position. A change in monitor tilt or a glossy surface can change what you see, so verify the result with your own display and viewing angle.
BenQ lists a 2700–6500 K color-temperature range. Pick a setting that fits the room and the paper you want to see. A warmer setting may look more consistent beside a warm room lamp, while a cooler one may look more consistent with daylight. Those are visual preferences. If you do color-critical work, check the entire room setup and the display under the conditions you actually use.
Set the backlight for the wall behind the display
Bring up the backlight after the front light is aimed. Look at the area behind the display and adjust from the chair. A pale wall can show the light more clearly than a dark wall. A monitor pushed close to the wall may light a smaller patch, while a deeper desk can change the spread. Choose a level that gives you the background you want without making the wall the brightest thing you notice.
The wireless controller makes it easier to revisit these choices after a change in room lighting. Keep it within reach, and check the power requirements for the light bar separately from the controller. If you use automatic dimming or presence detection, try the behavior while leaning back, moving to another side of the desk and returning after a break. Set a manual level if the automatic behavior does not suit how you work.

Decide whether you will use both zones
Halo 2 makes sense for a display that can accept the mount and a desk where both the work surface and the wall need their own light level. It is especially relevant if you alternate between paper work and screen work without wanting another lamp base on the desk. If the wall cannot receive useful light, or your webcam and monitor mount already crowd the top edge, check whether the arrangement still gives you a benefit. The useful comparison is what you can see from your chair after the front and rear levels are set, with the monitor and other equipment in their normal places.
