Milescraft 1303 Drive90PLUS: A 1.5-Inch-Reach Right-Angle Driver for Tight Spaces

THE BUYING TAKE

Choose the Milescraft 1303 when a measured obstruction suits its 1.5-inch minimum reach and the job uses compatible 1/4-inch hex accessories. Skip it when there is no side approach, hammer mode is required, or repetitive high-load work justifies a dedicated right-angle drill.

Best for
Occasional cabinet, framing and hardware work where a straight drill cannot align with the fastener but the drill body can approach from the side.
The trade-off
The 1.5-inch figure is a minimum reach rather than universal cavity clearance; the socket accepts most, not all, 1/4-inch hex accessories; reaction torque needs a supporting hand; and Milescraft excludes hammer-drill/driver use.

Article summary

The Milescraft 1303 Drive90PLUS turns compatible 1/4-inch hex accessories through 90 degrees and has a documented 1.5-inch minimum reach for close-access work. Its magnetic socket, finger grip and flat back support controlled driving, but it is not intended for hammer-drill mode and still needs side clearance for the drill body.

# Milescraft 1303 Drive90PLUS: A 1.5-Inch-Reach Right-Angle Driver for Tight Spaces

A straight drill works only when its body and bit can line up with the fastener. Near a cabinet side, between framing members or under a shelf, that line can disappear long before the screw is reached. The Milescraft 1303 Drive90PLUS turns a 1/4-inch hex accessory through 90 degrees so the drill can stay beside the work instead of directly behind it.

The headline number is a 1.5-inch minimum reach, but that is a fit check rather than a guarantee. The installed bit, the drill chuck and the surrounding material still determine whether the complete setup can enter a particular opening.

The 1.5-inch minimum reach is the first fit check

Milescraft specifies a 1.5-inch minimum reach for the 1303. This describes the right-angle attachment's close-access geometry; it is not the width of every usable cavity and does not include the length of whatever bit is installed. Before buying, measure from the fastener centerline to the nearest obstruction, then allow room for the bit and for the drill body approaching from the side.

That geometry is useful when a conventional drill would collide with a wall or panel before the bit becomes square to the screw. It can turn an awkward diagonal attempt into a straighter approach, which helps reduce the temptation to drive with the bit only partly seated. The attachment does not correct a poorly placed pilot hole or make a long bit shorter, so choose the shortest suitable accessory for the job.

The magnetic 1/4-inch socket simplifies bit changes

The output is a magnetic 1/4-inch hex socket, and Milescraft says it accepts most 1/4-inch hex accessories. Common hex-shank driver bits and drill accessories therefore have a familiar interface, while the included Phillips bit makes the basic driving setup usable without another purchase.

“Most” matters. Round-shank drill bits do not fit this socket, unusually shaped hex accessories may not seat correctly, and magnetic holding force depends on a compatible ferrous bit. Confirm the shank before starting, push the accessory fully into the socket and tug it lightly before placing the tool in a cavity where a dropped bit would be difficult to retrieve.

The grip and flat back help control the 90-degree turn

Inside the ABS body, Milescraft identifies improved gears with integrated gear support and a metal head. The maker rates the attachment at 500 in-lbs of force. Treat that as a product rating, not a promise that every drill, bit, screw and material will deliver the same result.

A geared right-angle attachment also creates reaction torque at the head. The finger-grip handle and flat back give the supporting hand places to resist that movement and help keep the output perpendicular to the fastener. Start slowly, keep hands clear of the rotating input shaft and stop if the bit binds. The attachment adds another connection between drill and fastener, so careful alignment matters more than maximum trigger speed.

Impact-ready does not mean hammer-drill compatible

Milescraft describes the 1303 as impact ready, but expressly says it is not intended for use with a hammer drill/driver. Those statements cover different forces: an impact driver applies rotational impacts, while hammer mode adds axial percussion. Do not use the attachment in hammer mode or infer masonry capability from the impact-ready label.

For occasional cabinet assembly, framing access or hardware work where a standard drill cannot line up, the 1303 can be a compact way to reuse existing 1/4-inch hex accessories. For repetitive high-load work, very deep cavities or jobs needing round-shank bits, a dedicated right-angle drill may provide a simpler and more durable fit.

Choose the Milescraft 1303 when the measured obstruction suits its 1.5-inch minimum reach and the job uses compatible 1/4-inch hex accessories. Skip it when there is no side approach for the drill body, the task requires hammer mode, or daily heavy-duty use justifies a dedicated tool. Its value is controlled access, not a claim that every tight space becomes reachable.
