Wacom Intuos Medium Pen Tablet: Draw Here, Watch the Screen
THE BUYING TAKE
Choose after checking the mapped area, host and drawing application. Compare a pen display when drawing directly on the image is essential.
Best for
A verified pen-input workflow on a separate display, with deliberate mapping and a few useful supported shortcuts.
The trade-off
No built-in image display or multi-touch. The pen is battery-free, but the Bluetooth tablet has a battery; host and application support need checking.

The Bluetooth Intuos Medium is a pen tablet, so the picture stays on a separate screen. Its fit depends on the mapped working area, supported drawing application and the shortcuts you actually use.

Wacom Intuos Medium Bluetooth / CTL6100WLK0 / CTL-6100WL
Black Medium New standard pen tablet with Pen4K,notSmall/IntuosPro/pendisplay
A drawing tablet changes where the hand works before it changes the finished picture. With the Wacom Intuos Medium, the pen moves across a marked surface while the result appears on a connected device's screen. That separation is the first buying decision, especially for someone expecting to draw directly on an illuminated display.
This assessment covers the black Bluetooth Medium, CTL6100WLK0 in the CTL-6100WL family. It is not an Intuos Pro, a smaller Intuos or a standalone screen tablet. Think through the host, application and desk arrangement before deciding that the word “tablet” describes the experience you want.
Separate the working area from the whole tablet
Wacom lists the Medium's active area at approximately 216 by 135mm, or 8.5 by 5.3 inches. The body is larger, approximately 264 by 200 by 8.8mm. Use the body dimensions to plan desk space and the active area to think about the room available for pen movement.
The dots identify the active area's boundaries. They are not a miniature image display. In pen mapping, a location on the tablet corresponds to a location on the mapped screen area; moving across the surface moves the pointer accordingly.
A multiple-monitor desk needs a deliberate mapping choice. Wacom's guidance explains that the default can span all displays, while mapping settings let you choose a single display or a portion. Start with the screen where the drawing application actually sits rather than accepting an unnecessarily broad workspace.
Try simple lines and shapes before a detailed project. If shapes appear stretched, consult the mapping and proportions guidance instead of assuming that more pressure will correct the geometry. The useful question is whether this indirect hand-and-screen arrangement suits your way of working.
Size comparison: Medium is behind Small. This article covers Medium only; the picture does not represent a two-tablet package. Image: Wacom.Image sourceEditorial image reference.Display copy resized and compressed. Original image.
Distinguish the battery-free pen from the wireless tablet
The supplied Wacom Pen 4K uses battery-free pen technology. That does not make the Bluetooth tablet battery-free: Wacom specifies a built-in, non-replaceable lithium-ion battery for the wireless models. A wireless drawing session still needs a charging plan.
For a compatible computer, Wacom describes pairing through the computer's Bluetooth menu after activating the tablet's pairing mode. Its support instructions also describe switching between an established Bluetooth connection and USB by connecting or disconnecting the cable.
Check the actual host ports and the required cable or adapter before buying accessories. Bluetooth capability does not establish identical support on every operating system. Verify the current device-specific connection guidance and driver requirements for the computer or mobile device you intend to use.
Keep a practical wired option available if the desk normally uses USB. This article does not report original wireless latency, battery-runtime or connection-range measurements.
Make pressure and shortcuts serve the application
Wacom specifies 4,096 pen-pressure levels. Treat that as an input capability rather than a guarantee that every brush automatically changes in the same way. Check that the chosen application supports pen pressure and that its selected tool is configured to use it.
Begin with a small test document and a brush whose behavior you understand. Compare light and firmer strokes, then change one setting at a time. A pressure-level count cannot establish that a particular person will immediately draw more accurately or enjoy the surface.
The tablet has four customizable ExpressKeys. Wacom specifically lists their support on Windows PC and Mac, and its current support guidance describes application-specific assignments that can change when you switch programs. Learn the active assignment before treating a key as a universal shortcut.
Choose a few frequent actions instead of filling every key immediately. Undo, navigation or a regularly used tool can be useful candidates when supported by the application. This model does not provide multi-touch, so do not buy it expecting finger gestures to replace those controls.
Check the first project, not a software headline
Before ordering, confirm the current supported host, driver download and application requirements. Review any included-software offer separately for the exact region, eligibility and license term; an older promotional image is not proof of a permanent license to every advertised program.
Choose the Medium for a verified pen-input workflow with enough mapped working room and an understood separate-screen experience. Compare a pen display if drawing directly on the image is essential. This assessment is based on documented features and setup guidance, not original drawing, pressure-accuracy or durability tests.
