A small pen tablet can free desk space while changing the way a hand movement becomes a movement on screen. The Wacom Intuos Pro Small PTH460 is worth assessing on that basis. Its overall dimensions do not describe the usable drawing surface, and the right choice depends on the monitor arrangement as much as the space beside a keyboard. Start with one familiar editing task and imagine how you would perform it with a pen.
Compare the active area with your working movement
Wacom specifies a 160 by 100 mm active area for the PTH460. Mark out that rectangle on a sheet of paper and place it where the tablet would sit. Try the sort of movements you normally make when drawing a curve, tracing an edge or adjusting a mask. The exercise cannot reproduce the pen response, but it makes the physical scale much clearer.
This is a pen tablet used with a separate computer display. You look at the screen while moving the pen over the tablet. If you are new to that arrangement, allow time to become familiar with it instead of deciding that the first few awkward movements define the long-term experience.
Consider whether the tablet will map to one monitor or a larger desktop spanning several displays. A small surface mapped across more screen area changes how far the cursor travels for a given hand movement. Choose the mapping deliberately and test it with the application and document size you actually use.
Put the controls where your other hand works
The small model provides six customizable ExpressKeys and a Touch Ring. Before assigning everything, write down the actions you repeat most often. Undo, changing a tool or adjusting a view may deserve convenient access, but the useful set is the one that follows your own editing sequence.
Start with only a few assignments and keep a note of them. Try a normal task without constantly changing the layout. This makes it easier to tell whether the controls save effort or simply add another configuration to remember. Add more actions after the first set feels predictable.
Place the keyboard where it remains easy to reach for text entry and less frequent commands. The goal is a desk that supports both hands naturally. Check the pen stand position as well, so putting the pen down between edits does not mean searching for a safe spot every time.

Check the pen and software as one setup
The included battery-free Pro Pen 2 supports 8192 pressure levels according to Wacom. That is a hardware capability, while the behavior of a brush or editing tool also depends on the application's settings. Use a simple test document to confirm that pressure changes produce the effect you intended.
Look up current driver support for the exact PTH460 model and your operating system before buying. This model belongs to the Pro Pen 2 generation, so a page describing a newer Intuos Pro is not sufficient evidence for its requirements or included accessories. Keep the model number with your setup notes.
USB and Bluetooth connectivity provide two ways to arrange the computer connection. Decide which suits the desk and confirm that the chosen route works with the actual computer. Begin with a straightforward connection while learning the controls, then evaluate the arrangement you intend to use every day.
Choose the size that helps you finish work
The PTH460 makes sense when compact movements, a separate monitor and customizable controls suit your work. If your drawing style relies on broader arm movements, spend time assessing the active-area size before committing. The smallest tablet is not automatically the most comfortable fit for every workflow.
Return to the same representative image or drawing after setup. Check whether selecting an edge, adjusting a mask and moving around the canvas feel manageable without repeatedly rearranging the desk. That complete editing sequence is a better basis for the purchase than pressure-level numbers considered on their own.
