The black base on Cuisipro’s 746850 has a second job. Removed from the box, it provides a dedicated surface for grating fresh ginger. Above it sit four stainless-steel cutting faces for fine, coarse, and ultra-coarse grating, plus slices or shavings. That combination gives this upright grater a clear place in a kitchen where dinner preparation regularly calls for more than one texture.

Give fresh ginger its own surface

The ginger-grating surface is built into the base, which you can remove from the box and use separately. For a cook who frequently adds grated ginger to a dressing, marinade, or stir-fry sauce, that feature is a concrete reason to consider this model. It puts ginger preparation alongside the other grating jobs in one stored assembly.

The manufacturer’s close-up shows ginger pulp and visible fibers across the textured base. Expect a grating surface that still needs clearing after use. Its value is the extra function in a part the box already needs; whether that function matters depends on how often fresh ginger appears on your cutting board.

Match the face to the food’s texture

The fine face is intended for ingredients such as citrus zest and hard cheese. It suits small finishing touches when a dish is ready to serve. Cuisipro lists vegetables, chocolate, and chilled butter among uses for the coarse face, giving that side a different role when the recipe calls for more substantial grated pieces.

The ultra-coarse face is the manufacturer’s choice for cheeses such as mozzarella and cheddar. The fourth face produces slices or shavings, with hard cheese, chocolate, garlic, and ginger among the listed uses. These are four fixed cutting surfaces around the body; the ginger surface in the base adds another function. Choose the face for the result your recipe needs before starting.

For example, a meal with grated vegetables, shredded cheese, and a citrus finish gives several faces a reason to be there. The box can stay at the preparation area while you turn to the next surface. If your grating usually means a little Parmesan directly over a plate, an existing fine grater may already cover the job comfortably.

Grooved blades, a handle, and exposed cutting edges

Cuisipro’s Surface Glide design combines etched cutting edges with a repeated grooved pattern. The company says the grooves are intended to reduce resistance as food moves across the surface. That explains the blade design, while the useful buying question remains which cuts you need. The grater is still a manual tool: you supply the motion and control the ingredient.

The top handle gives the supporting hand a place to hold the box, and Cuisipro describes both the handle and base as non-slip. Keep the box supported on a stable work surface and pay attention as the ingredient gets smaller. Exposed cutting edges need care during grating and washing; a useful handle does not make the food-holding hand cut-proof.

Make room for the box and its cleanup

The manufacturer lists dimensions of 4.75 inches long, 3.5 inches wide, and 9.5 inches high. Check the space where you plan to store it, particularly if your utensils live in shallow drawers. Allow room for the rectangular body as well as the handle. An existing narrow grater may be easier to fit alongside utensils in a drawer.

Cuisipro specifies dishwasher cleaning on the top rack only and recommends handwashing. Include the base in cleanup after grating ginger, since food can remain on that surface too. Keep your existing grater in mind when deciding: this box is most useful when its different faces and removable ginger surface fill jobs that tool leaves uncovered. The extra functions need to be useful enough to earn the storage space.
