Glass Containers or 105°F Dehydrating: Ninja Crispi FN101ST vs AF101 Air Fryers

Both are 4-quart corded air fryers. Crispi centers the decision on two transparent glass vessels that can prep, cook, serve, and store; AF101 centers it on a familiar basket and a 105°F–400°F range with dedicated dehydration.

OUR BUYING TAKE

Choose Crispi FN101ST when visible glass and fewer transfers between prep, cooking, serving, and cooled storage solve the recurring problem. Choose AF101 for a conventional pull-out basket, adjustable 105°F–400°F control, and dedicated dehydration. Skip both for dual-zone or family-size batches.

Two 4-quart air fryers can occupy the same short list while changing very different parts of dinner. The Ninja Crispi FN101ST puts a removable 1500-watt PowerPod above transparent glass containers that can move from preparation to cooking, serving, and—after cooling—storage. The Ninja AF101 keeps the familiar fixed base and pull-out coated basket, then adds a 105°F–400°F adjustable range that makes dehydration a genuine part of its four-function design.

Both are corded countertop air fryers for smaller batches, and either can handle everyday crisping. Neither has two independent cooking zones. The useful choice is therefore not which machine has more marketing labels. It is whether the vessel workflow or the temperature workflow would remove more friction from the food you actually make.

Choose the cooking vessel before comparing programs

The Crispi system includes a 6-cup glass container for a personal portion and a 4-quart glass container for a larger batch. The same compatible vessel can hold ingredients before cooking, go to the table after cooking, and accept its storage lid once it has cooled. Transparent sides also let you see the food without pulling out an opaque basket. Those are two distinct buying benefits: fewer container changes and a visible cooking chamber.

The PowerPod is removable, but the appliance is not cordless. It still needs a 120-volt outlet and a stable surface. The glassware is also heavier and more vulnerable to impact than a conventional metal basket. The included lids are for storage and transport, not for cooking, and the system is designed around compatible Crispi containers rather than arbitrary bowls from a cabinet.

AF101 uses one 4-quart pull-out basket with a ceramic-coated crisper plate. That format is less novel but easier to understand if loading, shaking, and emptying a basket already fits the routine. The fixed body keeps the electrical and heating parts in one place while the food-contact pieces lift out. Its first buying benefit is simplicity: one chamber, one basket, and no adapter or second vessel to organize.

Four functions solve different cooking problems

Crispi provides Max Crisp, Air Fry, Bake, and Recrisp. Ninja lists preset modes up to 450°F. Max Crisp and Recrisp make the stronger case for frozen snacks or leftovers when a higher preset and renewed surface texture matter, while Bake extends the glass system beyond the most obvious air-fry job. The 6-cup container also gives a small meal a vessel closer to its scale instead of requiring the 4-quart bowl every time.

AF101 provides Air Fry, Roast, Reheat, and Dehydrate. Its documented 105°F–400°F range is the important difference. The low end supports gradual moisture removal, so dried fruit, herbs, or other suitable foods are not merely an afterthought on a high-heat fryer. Roast and Reheat cover everyday savory food and leftovers without adding a long preset menu. That broader manual temperature range is its second buying benefit.

The tradeoff follows directly from those controls. AF101 tops out at 400°F rather than Crispi's listed modes up to 450°F. Crispi, however, does not give the same 105°F low-temperature boundary or a dedicated Dehydrate function. A buyer who never dehydrates food should not treat that AF101 feature as automatically valuable; someone who wants deliberate low-temperature control should not assume four Crispi modes are equivalent.

Capacity, cleanup, and storage break the apparent tie

Ninja says the Crispi 4-quart container can fit a 4-pound chicken and serve up to four under the company's supported setup. The smaller 6-cup container is more practical when the batch is a single serving. Containers, crisper plates, adapter, and storage lids are listed as dishwasher safe, while the powered pod must stay out of the dishwasher and be maintained as an electrical appliance.

AF101 is also a 4-quart machine, but it remains a single chamber. Larger households may need batches, and it cannot cook two foods at different temperatures or finish times. Its basket and crisper plate are listed as dishwasher safe, giving oily crumbs a removable path to cleanup. Coated parts still deserve nonabrasive care, and the exterior should be wiped rather than immersed.

Storage favors different kitchens. Crispi's pod and glassware nest, and the vessels can keep working after cooking, but the complete set contains more pieces and breakable glass. AF101 asks for one fixed appliance footprint, yet there is only one basket system to track. Measure the cabinet or counter around the full setup you will store, not just the smallest removable component shown in a product photo.

Buy the workflow you will repeat

Choose Ninja Crispi FN101ST when seeing the food and moving one compatible glass vessel from preparation to cooking, serving, and cooled storage would change the routine. Its two container sizes, four modes, up-to-450°F presets, and dishwasher-safe accessories suit one-to-four-person meals where fewer transfers matter. It is not worth the extra system complexity if glass weight, breakability, or proprietary containers would make you use it less.

Choose Ninja AF101 when a familiar pull-out basket, adjustable 105°F–400°F range, and dedicated Dehydrate function matter more than a cook-and-store vessel. It suits smaller households that want air frying, roasting, reheating, and occasional low-temperature drying in one straightforward machine. It is not the right substitute for dual-zone cooking, batches larger than four quarts, or maximum settings above 400°F.

Skip both if the real requirement is two independently controlled foods, a family-size 6- to 8-quart chamber, or cordless cooking. Otherwise, decide by the repeated nuisance: Crispi reduces transfers between containers, while AF101 adds lower-temperature control to the conventional basket routine.

THE CHOICES

Which one fits your job?

01Ninja Crispi 4-in-1 / FN101ST — Stone / 6-cup + 4-qt glass system / parent

WHY CONSIDER IT
  • Transparent 6-cup and 4-quart vessels can reduce transfers between preparation, cooking, serving, and cooled storage.
  • Four modes reaching listed presets up to 450°F provide Air Fry, Bake, Max Crisp, and Recrisp workflows across two batch sizes.
THE LIMITS
  • The removable PowerPod is corded and needs a 120-volt outlet.
  • Glass is heavier and more vulnerable to impact than a conventional metal basket.
  • Storage lids are not used during cooking, and the system requires compatible Crispi containers.
  • It has no dedicated Dehydrate mode or documented 105°F low-temperature boundary.

02Ninja AF101 — Grey / 4 QT Compact

WHY CONSIDER IT
  • The familiar single pull-out basket keeps loading, shaking, emptying, and storage straightforward.
  • An adjustable 105°F–400°F range and dedicated Dehydrate function add deliberate low-temperature drying to air frying, roasting, and reheating.
THE LIMITS
  • The single 4-quart chamber may require batches for larger households.
  • It cannot run two foods at independent temperatures or finish times.
  • The opaque basket does not provide the visible cooking chamber of the Crispi glassware.
  • Its documented maximum is 400°F rather than Crispi modes listed up to 450°F.
