Choose the MicroLock two-pack for keys you regularly detach, provided its small gates and shared twist lock fit your everyday setup.
Best for
People who want to separate one or two keys from a main ring for occasional handoffs.
The trade-off
The tiny gates and center lever need room to operate, and both ends share one lock. It is not for climbing or uses where release could cause injury or property damage.

Leaving a car for service should not mean handing over every key you carry. Yet taking one key off a tight split ring can turn a simple handoff into a small chore. The Nite Ize S-Biner MicroLock gives that key a separate attachment point, so you can remove it through a gate instead of working it around the ring.
The black two-pack makes sense when one or two items regularly leave your main key set. If your keys always stay together, another connector may add more hardware than convenience.
Give the key its own attachment point
The MicroLock has an S-shaped stainless steel body with a wire gate at each end. One end can connect to your existing ring while the other holds the key you want to remove. A plastic lever in the middle rotates to block the gates, adding a deliberate locking step after you close them.
That arrangement is useful for a key you occasionally lend out or leave with a mechanic. You can plan the separation before you need it, rather than rebuilding the whole key ring at the counter. The rest of your keys can stay on their usual ring.
Both gates use the same central lock. Turning the lever to unlock does not leave the other end independently locked, so keep hold of the ring and the item you are removing. After reconnecting them, check that the gates close and the lever is back in its locked position.
The lever is unlocked; the penny indicates general scale and is not included. This used 2014 clip has older MICROLOCK lettering. Photo: Joe Loong, Wikimedia Commons. Leave room for the tiny twist lock
This is a small connector, roughly 1.4 inches long. That keeps the added hardware modest, but the opening still has to accommodate the actual key hole, split ring, or attachment loop. A thick plastic fob is a different fit problem from a thin metal key.
Before choosing it, look at the attachment point rather than just counting keys. There needs to be room to press the gate inward and operate the center lever after the item is attached. An existing small split ring may provide a usable connection where a bulky fob cannot pass directly through the gate.
The small lever also deserves attention if tiny controls frustrate you. A larger clip may be easier to handle, even if it occupies more pocket space. MicroLock's appeal depends on whether the compact mechanism suits your hands and the items you carry.
Choose the two-pack you actually need
The selected black stainless steel two-pack is model LSBM-01-2R3. It contains two MicroLocks, so you can give two removable items separate connectors or keep the second clip aside. Keys and the main key ring are separate; this pack does not replace an entire key organizer.
Check the finish and model when ordering. The selected listing's title and package photo show black, while its color field says Stainless. Stainless steel describes the body material; it does not by itself identify the finish you will receive.
Seller choice affects support: Nite Ize's current Worry Free Guarantee covers the original purchaser's first two years and applies to purchases from the company or authorized sellers. Proof of purchase may be required, and you may have to pay postage to send an item back. Keep the receipt and check seller eligibility instead of assuming every listing carries identical support.
Understand what the lock cannot do
The twist lock controls gate opening; it is not an anti-theft lock or a guarantee against losing an item. Nite Ize prohibits climbing use and use where disengagement could cause bodily injury or property damage. The listing also flags this small accessory as unsuitable for children under three.
The selected listing also carries a California Proposition 65 warning about possible exposure to di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP), which California identifies as causing cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. That warning remains relevant when deciding whether this accessory is right for you.
